How long are Comfort Zone dpn’s?
All sizes of our needles are 7.75 inches. Larger sizes can be cut to six inches and the points machine ground by special order ($8.25/set), but we have not had much luck with cutting the #0, #1, and #2 because of their flexibility.

Why are there six in a set?
Have you ever dropped a needle and it rolled under the couch, or disappeared completely? Have you ever dropped a needle in the car, only to have it disappear into the black hole under the seat--or have the cat or dog eat one? That’s why we give you six needles. We don’t think you should have to buy a new set if you lose one, even temporarily! We want you to be able to complete your project.

What makes Comfort Zone dpn’s resist breakage?
Comfort Zone needles are made of a plastic polymer with a high nylon content that stands up to the most intense bending. Under normal usage, they will not break.

Why can’t color choices be made in all sizes?
Some of our colors are more popular than others, and are depleted in inventory quickly. We try to fill all color requests, but we substitute when the color you ordered is not available. When possible, we will switch that color with another needle color in your order. We appreciate you allowing us to substitute if it is necessary, and we will try to notify you that a substitution has been made.

Why are they called Comfort Zone?
Most of you have been knitting long enough to discover your “comfort zone,” that place and time when the right method, the perfect stitch tension, and the best needles for your style all come together. We want Comfort Zone to be the best and most comfortable needles for everyone! Knitting for hours can often cause hand pain, and choice of needles can be a contributing factor. Comfort Zone dpn’s are extremely flexible, and rest in your hands through hours of comfortable knitting. They have narrow points that slide effortlessly through any yarn, and they will not slide out of the stitches when you put your knitting down for a moment.

What is next for Comfort Zone?
In addition to adding to our color line, we are currently designing joinless circulars. With the Comfort Zone slim points and no joins to catch on yarn, we think they will be perfect for lace knitting, as well as the two circular or magic loop methods of sock knitting.

8. What are the needle diameters in metric sizes?

US#0 = 2mm   US#1 = 2.25mm
US#2 = 2.75mm   US#3 = 3.25mm
US#4 = 3.50mm   US#5 = 3.75mm
US#6 = 4.00mm   US#7 = 4.50mm
US#8 = 5.00mm   US#9 = 5.50mm
US#10 = 6.00mm   US#10 1/2 = 6.50mm

A few things that might help CZ users make the transition from other brands of dpns to CZs:

They are extremely flexible. They will bend as you use them and your hands heat the polymer. Because there is a large nylon content, they will also bend back to straight with a little encouragement. We have heard from a few users that they let them stay bent, because they have conformed to their hands, which adds to the comfort. Best advice: don’t fight them, join them! Let them bend and conform to your style of knitting. The comfort element comes from the fact that they are so flexible. They don’t fight your hands, or bite into your skin.

There is a fair amount of drag created by CZs. The sides of the needles are a little rougher than most plastic needles, a lot rougher than aluminum, and maybe a little more than bamboo or rosewood. The purpose of the drag is so they will NOT fall out of stitches. One customer wrote that she throws them into her backpack, and never worries about them falling out of stitches or breaking. Best advice: knit a whole pair of socks with them, under the best and worst circumstances before you decide you don’t like the drag or the flexibility. Leave them lying around, throw them in a purse or knitting bag, knit with them in the car. We think you will find that their staying power is extraordinary.
